About the Role
We are seeking a Head of Engineering to help us build a high-performing engineering team.
To achieve this objective you’ll need strong technical leadership, people management and communication skills, as well as broad technical experience building and shipping products in a startup and/or scale up environment.
Reporting to the Co-CEOs and as a peer to the Founding Engineer, you’ll work closely with senior engineers and product managers. This role is instrumental to driving Orkestra’s entry and rapid growth into international markets, and launch of new products.
Your performance will be assessed by your ability to ensure timely engineering delivery and team satisfaction & retention.
In this role you will…
- Learn the fundamentals of energy project financial modelling to ensure you understand the product requirements, today and in the future.
- Collaborate with engineers to guide the design and implementation of simple, secure, stable systems that can support continual change.
- Coordinate engineering team resourcing, delivery and performance, to ensure key features are shipped on time.
- Coaching of engineers on technical, project management and leadership matters
- Foster a high performance, high trust, engineering culture that ships working product regularly.
- Define and articulate Orkestra’s engineering principles and standards, and guide the engineering team in implementing these in day to day practice.
- Lead the formation and execution of medium and long term Technical Strategy.
- Implement strategies to prevent customer facing incidents, and ensure any incidents are promptly addressed and learnt from via retrospectives/blameless post mortem.
- Lead recruitment and onboarding; conduct performance reviews, career planning, and regular 1on1s for the onshore and offshore engineering team.
- Be ultimately accountable for the quality, scalability, observability, and security of the product.
