Location: Remote with Australian timezone (AEST) +/- 3hrs.

Position Type: Full-time, Fixed-term 18-month contract commencing April 2025, with the option to extend and make permanent.

About Us

Orkestra Technologies is a rapidly growing Australian-based VC-backed software startup that is revolutionising the way new energy projects are deployed. Our software principally helps salespeople and analysts selling commercial new energy projects, such as solar, batteries, and electric vehicles, to perform financial analysis on hundreds of project options and identify financially optimal solutions for business customers.

As part of our mission, we are leading a $5.5 million ARENA-co-funded project to guide the strategic deployment of and accelerate investment in EV chargers across Australia. Join us and shape a future where data informs the infrastructure behind Australia’s EV transition.

About the Role

We’re looking for a talented Research Director with a background in data analysis and advanced modelling to lead this groundbreaking project. You’ll be at the heart of a project that aims to unlock investment in Australia’s EV charging infrastructure. ****Your expertise will help determine the best locations and times for EV charger installations based on a rich blend of data sources.

The role is a fixed-term 18-month contract, and you will report directly to one of our CEO’s and the board, leading a newly created ‘Research Unit’ within the business. Subject to further funding, there may be the opportunity to extend the contract and transition to a permanent role.

Note: We are open to considering either an employment or independent contractor engagement for this role.

About the research project

As a software business, the primary delivery of the ARENA funded project is to deliver EV charging related product modules into our core products. However, a substantial allocation of our budget is set aside to deliver three supplementary research outputs. The goal of these research modules is to fill industry gaps when it comes to understanding the viability of public EV chargers, and ultimately build investor capability and confidence to ensure continued subsidy-free EV charger rollout into the future.
